Wednesday Sep 14, 2022
Ep.120 of The Autumn Windbags and the first show after NFL Week One! The question of the day is which Raider impressed you the most against the Chargers? Dylan Parham played pretty mistake free. Derek Carr Davante Adams connection was a thing of beauty and was the Davate Adams touchdown. Nate Hobbs proved last year was no fluke. Andrew Billings was blowing up run plays against the Los Angeles Chargers. Johnathan Abram led the team in tackles. Josh Jacobs got 5.7 yards per carry. Maxx Crosby was disruptive and around the ball every play at SoFi Stadium. Soto does his good, bad and ugly from Las Vegas Raiders vs Chargers. Good: Davante Adams is better than advertised. Johnathan Abram got 12 tackles and never got embarrassed by Justin Herbert. Maxx Crosby never sacked Justin Herbert but pressured him all game. Raider Nation has to be excited for Nate Hobbs who got the only pass defended by the LV Raiders. Bad: The offensive line gave up six sacks to Khalil Mack, Joey Bosa and the rest of the Chargers. Josh McDaniels decided to keep rotating the offensive linemen. Josh McDaniels play calling left a lot to be desired. Few screens, draws and play action to help the poor offensive line. Daniel Carlson sent a kick off out of bounds. Chandler Jones and Clelin Ferrell were ghosts opposite of Maxx Crosby on the defensive line. Ugly: Derek Carr threw three interceptions and fumbled twice. Several sacks were on him and he left Darren Waller and Davante Adams hanging when they were wide open. Hunter Renfrow never got into the game. The Las Vegas Raiders lost and had a bunch of injuries against the Los Angeles Chargers. In Raiders news today, Anthony Averett and DJ Turner head to IR. Trevon Moehrig, Denzel Perryman, Brandon Bolden and Andre James all left the game with injury. Raiders vs Cardinals will be the home opener for Las Vegas. The Raiders are -5.5 favorites. Patrick Mahomes destroyed the Cardinals defense last week. Deandre Hopkins is still suspended and will not play. In Raiders news today, there's a good chance JJ Watt, Zach Ertz and Trayvon Mullen won't play. Kyler Murray is obviously still a dangerous double threat as a passer and runner. In What Up, Windbags, how rattled was Derek Carr in Raiders vs Chargers, no reason to panic after week one and why didn't Josh Jacobs eat against the Chargers defense?

Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders headed to SoFi Stadium to take on Justin Herbert and the Los Angeles Chargers in week one of the NFL season. The Chargers were without Pro Bowl cornerback JC Jackson and lost Keenan Allen during the game but that didn't stop the Chargers from defeating the Raiders 24-19. There were some bright spots from the Las Vegas offense. Derek Carr Davante Adams is an incredible combination with the two combining for 141 yards and a touchdown. Josh Jacobs averaged 5.7 yards per carry as well and Darren Waller came on big in the second half. Hunter Renfrow had a quiet game along with the rest of the wide receiver corps. Former Raiders player Khalil Mack handled his former team to the tune of three sacks. Justin Herbert torched the Raiders defense early. Maxx Crosby was making plays all over the filed along with cornerbacks Nate Hobbs and Rock Ya-Sin, but other wise the NFL pro bowler did what he wanted to the Raiders defense, especially in the first half.

Ep.118 is the last episode of the Autumn Windbags before the 2022-23 NFL season officially kicks off. The Windbags look at some of the biggest and best Raiders predictions for the start of the NFL season. Including Super Bowl goals, Mark Davis and his haircut and AFC West taking all four teams to the NFL playoffs. The Windbags look at five Raiders players that need to step up this season. Derek Carr is top of the list especially with the Derek Carr Davante Adams connection. Darren Waller extension talks have been a distraction. Waller has a new agent and coming off and injury plagued season. The Derek Carr Darren Waller relationship is strong so improvements should come. Second year safety Trevon Moehrig had a solid rookie season. Now that Moehrig goes from a Gus Bradley to Patrick Graham system, can he adjust from safety blanket to ball hawk? Jermaine Eluemenor was the last man standing at right tackle after Alex Leatherwood was cut and Brand Parker went down with injury. Most pundits point to the offensive line as the reason the Raiders could fail this season. Second year player Divine Deablo impressed his rookie year and is poised to improve a lot this season under Patrick Graham. In Las Vegas Raiders news today, the team released their first in-season depth chart. The running back depth goes Josh Jacobs, Brandon Bolden, Ameer Abdullah, Zamir White and Brittain Brown. Mack Hollins appears to be the number three receiver behind Davante Adams and Hunter Renfrow. Tyron Johnson is the Raiders speedster. NFL week one is here! The Las Vegas Raiders and Los Angeles Chargers open up the NFL with a rematch of the epic week 18 matchup from last season. Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa are a pair that'll need to be schemed around. Chargers Pro Bowl cornerback JC Jackson is still injured and may or may not play Sunday. Justin Herbert is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL. The offense has talent, but with Justin Herbert throwing the ball, the offense can always be elite. In What Up, Windbags, the guys get a good reminder the Jon Gruden email scandal would've gone different if Jon Gruden was winning, how big of a bust was Alex Leatherwood and is it time to pay Darren Waller?

Ep.117 of The Autumn Windbags. RJ, Soto and Rory recorded one day early to dissect the 53 man roster announcement, discuss Darren Waller's contract rumors and Jon Gruden coming out of the woodwork. In Las Vegas Raiders news, along with the rest of the NFL, the Raiders cut down their roster to 53 players. Head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler put together a squad that still needs some work either through NFL free agency or by trade but can play Raiders football. Raiders 2022 Defense: On the defensive line, Maxx Crosby, Chandler Jones, Johnathan Hankins and Bilal Nichols will start. The Raiders will keep five linebackers in Denzel Perryman, Jayon Brown, Divine Deablo, Darien Butler and Luke Masterson. Cornerback was a wild position. The Trayvon Mullen trade sent Trayvon Mullen to the Arizona Cardinals. Sam Webb was a dark horse to make the squad but he did. Nate Hobbs and Rock Ya-Sin will probably start. The Raiders kept basically all their safeties: Johnathan Abram, Trevon Moehrig, Roderic Teamer, Duron Harmon and Isiah Palo-Mao. Trevon Moehrig Raiders career is looking bright. Raiders 2022 Offense: Derek Carr is the starter and backup quarterback Jarrett Stidham had a really good preseason. The Raiders have six running backs: Josh Jacobs, Zamir White, Ameer Abdullah, Brandon Bolden, Brittain Brown and fullback Jakob Johnson. Kenyan Drake didn't even make it this far going to the Baltimore Ravens. The Raiders wide receiver squad is one of the best in the NFL: Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, Mack Hollins, Tyron Johnson and DJ Turner. Each receiver has a role. Davante Adams route running is unbeatable. Tyron is the speedster. Mack Hollins is the big receiver. Darren Waller, Foster Moreau and Jesper Horsted makes up one of the best tight end rooms in the NFL. The starting lineman currently looks like Kolton Miller, John Simpson, Andre James, Lester Cotton Sr. and Thayer Munford. Jackson Barton, Dylan Parham and Jermaine Eluemunor round out the back ups. In Raiders news today, Alex Leatherwood was released by the Raiders. Alex Leatherwood draft position at number 17 overall complicates everything. Alabama's Alex Leatherwood currently goes down as one of the biggest draft busts of all time. Leatherwood draws more attention to how bad Raiders drafts has been. Did Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler fail in how they handled Alex Leatherwood? According to Josina Anderson, Darren Waller is in the middle of a new deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. Waller is in between agents and is in a sticky situation with the Raiders, Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler. There is a Jon Gruden interview that surfaced this week. The Jon Gruden email controversy is still pending in litigation. But it didn't stop Jon Gruden from briefly chiming in on his history with the Raiders. In What Up, Windbags, the guys discuss if the Kansas City Chiefs loss was the catalyst that sent the Raiders to the playoffs, will Josh McDaniels give Derek Carr the keys to the offense and is Kolton Miller a top 100 player?

Ep.116 of The Autumn Windbags! Question of the day: what will the Raiders passing attack rank this season? The Las Vegas Raiders have three time NFL Pro Bowler Derek Carr, Devante Adams route running, Hunter Renfrow highlights, Darren Waller being unprotectable and Josh McDaniels' play calling. Plus the addition of Tyron Johnson to the Raiders. The Raiders joint practice this season was with the New England Patriots and Josh McDaniels old head coach Bill Belichick. Raiders and Patriots beat writers all wrote about how the Raiders dominated the Patriots. Raiders-Patriots was dominated by Davante Adams route running and Hunter Renfrow. Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is growing into a new leadership role. When Carr played under former head coaches Dennis Allen, Tony Sparano, Jack Del Rio and Jon Gruden, Carr lead by example but he let the coach be the main figure. Since Josh McDaniels reinvented himself as a players' coach, Carr is taking a more active role in holding his teammates accountable. UFC president Dana White went on the Gronkcast for UFC 278 and said he had brokered a deal to bring Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski to the Las Vegas Raiders. The WIndbags discuss just how involved Dana White was in the deal and what would the season have looked like with Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski? ESPN writer Bill Barnwell listed his five teams he thinks will decline next season. Barnwell listed the Green Bay Packers, Pittsburgh Steelers, Tennessee Titans, Atlanta Falcons and Las Vegas Raiders. ESPN points to the Raiders' close games, poor DVOA, record in one-score games and clutch kicking. Pro Bowl defensive back for the Los Angeles Chargers, JC Jackson underwent minor surgery this week. ESPN reports he will be out 2-4 weeks to recover meaning he may not make opening day against the Raiders in two-and-a-half weeks. In What Up, Windbags the guys give their prediction on signing Ndamukong Suh, the new media worship of the Chargers and where Davante Adams ranks as far as all-time signings by the Raiders.

Darren Waller is BACK, Josh McDaniels Feels Raider Love, Demarcus Robinson Cut
Wednesday Aug 17, 2022
Wednesday Aug 17, 2022
Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow has returned punts for the Las Vegas Raiders. Renfrow is arguably the best punt returned for the Raiders but is it worth the injury risk? Head coach Josh McDaniels Raiders love is starting to brew. After his first home preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings, McDaniels got a taste of the fanbase and the stadium and he liked it. The Ringer ranked all 32 NFL offenses. They put the Kansas City Chiefs at 1, Los Angeles Chargers at 3, the Denver Broncos at 7 and the Las Vegas Raiders at number 13. The Ringer blamed Josh McDaniels history as offensive coordinator without Tom Brady as the reason why they are so low. Josh McDaniels offensive scheme should get MORE credit for his history without Tom Brady, not less. Josh McDaniels Raiders future is very much scrutinized. Green Bay Packers All Pro quarterback Aaron Rodgers came down on his wide receivers this week. Aaron Rodgers wide receivers are going to give Rodgers a rude awakening not having Davante Adams anymore ever since the Packers traded him to the Raiders so he can play with his Fresno State teammate and friend, Derek Carr. A bunch of injured Raiders returned to practice this week. Potential starters Rock Ya-Sin, Divine Deablo, Trayvon Mullen, Darren Waller, Dillon Stoner, Johnathan Hankins, Bilal Nichols and others returned to training camp on Wednesday. The Las Vegas Raiders made some surprising free agency moves this week. Wide receiver Demarcus Robinson cut, defensive tackle Vernon Butler cut and safety Tyree Gillespie was traded to the Tennessee Titans for a conditional seventh-round pick. In What Up, Windbags, they discuss how much Maxx Crosby is gonna be held this season, the biggest difference between Josh McDaniels and Jon Gruden and why Rich Bisaccia didn't get hired as full time head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders.

Darren Waller on Bussin with the Boys, Chris Lacy on the Raiders, Rob Ryan Mic’d Up
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
Wednesday Aug 10, 2022
The Autumn Windbags are BACK for episode 114! The Las Vegas Raiders had senior defensive assistant Rob Ryan mic'd up and it was GLORIOUS. Which got us thinking, which Raiders player, coach or employee do you want to see mic'd up next? And make sure to check out Rob Ryan's video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=caEdWBNpdF4 Our NFL Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller appeared on Will Compton's podcast Bussin' with the Boys. The entire Darren Waller interview is worth your time but they focused on two important factors with the Raiders. 1) Waller addressed the red zone issues under Jon Gruden and how new Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels is going to fix the problem. 2) How he and quarterback Derek Carr have such a strong relationship they can be honest about what they each need to work on and communicate in a healthy way. They also discuss who gets more targets in the red zone this season: Davante Adams, Darren Waller or Hunter Renfrow? NFL wide receiver Chris Lacy signed with the Las Vegas Raiders. Lacy is signing up to play with a LOADED wide receiver room. Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow, Keelan Cole, Mack Hollins, Demarcus Robinson, Tyron Johnson, Dillon Stoner, DJ Turner and others. ESPN ranked all 32 NFL teams by the quality of their 25-years-old and under stars. The Las Vegas Raiders came in 29th. They listed no blue-chip players. However, Maxx Crosby, Johnathan Abram, Bilal Nichols, John Simpson, Andre James, Clelin Ferrell and Foster Moreau just missed the cut. This demonstrates how Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock's drafts really hurt the Raiders. Tashan Reed from The Athletic commented in his training camps notes that NFL Pro Bowl defensive end Maxx Crosby "has been seemingly unblockable during training camp." Maxx Crosby and Dylan Parham apparently got into a scrap during padded practice this week. The Windbags discuss if this a good thing, a bad thing or doesn't matter at all. Not including IR and PUP platers, 12 Raiders were missing from practice on Monday including Brandon Parker, Nick Bowers, Darren Waller, Clelin Ferrell, Divine Deablo, Rock Ya-Sin, Anthony Averett and Tyree Gillespie. Four cornerbacks and three tight ends did not practice. When does missing practice become a major issue for the Raiders? The Athletic also reports that Derek Carr has thrown ZERO interceptions in training camp so far. Has Josh McDaniels helped put Carr's turnover problems behind him or is Carr just a training camp all-star? In What Up, Windbags the guys discuss Rory's trash English accent, will Ndamukong Suh get signed before the Raiders can grab him and was Jon Gruden always so stubborn?

Derek Carr Haters EXPOSED, Raiders-Jaguars NFL Preseason, Ndamukong Suh Has New Leverage
Wednesday Aug 03, 2022

RJ is BACK on the Autumn Windbags. After two weeks away, he gives Rory a week off to fill in. So now that Rory is back in rotation, the question of the day is which Windbag do you hate the most: RJ, Soto or Rory? Give us a reason to hate on each other. Davante Adams posted a HILARIOUS Instagram story today. Hunter Renfrow ordered a cheap UberX for Adams, Renfrow, Derek Carr and Mack Hollins. That's roughly $300 million in contracts riding in a tiny car on the way to Top Golf. The Las Vegas Raiders released their depth chart this week. Alex Leatherwood is the starting right tackle over Brandon Parker, Hunter Renfrow is the punt returner and the defense is in a 4-3. Who will Josh McDaniels play in the Hall of Fame game and NFL preseason, who won't make the cut at running back and what is the optimum offensive line up? With RJ out for two weeks, he had to listen to Soto and Rory trash Derek Carr in his absence. RJ makes the case that Soto is like most Carr haters in that Carr gets all the blame for the Raiders losing. While Soto says that Carr improved this season and showed what he is capable off. Ndamukong Suh has been rumored to join the Las Vegas Raiders for weeks now. With injuries at defensive tackle to Johnathan Hankins and Bilal Nichols, a position the Raiders were pretty thin at to begin with, does Ndamukong Suh have new leverage negotiating with the Raiders? In What Up Windbags, the guys discuss Christian Darrisaw vs Alex Leatherwood, will Davante Adams miss Aaron Rodgers and what are the Raiders missing without Rich Bissacia?

Did Derek Carr Crush Doubters Last Season?, Aaron Rodgers Trolls Davante Adams
Thursday Jul 28, 2022
Thursday Jul 28, 2022
Soto and Rory run it back again and handle duties with RJ in Dallas. If you see RJ on a milk carton, call the authorities. The guys get into how much their opinion of Derek Carr has changed after last season. Las Vegas Raiders Derek Carr quarterback led his team to the playoffs last season but still turned the ball over too often. Soto still demands Carr play better if we have any hope of winning the AFC West and going to the NFL Super Bowl. Arizona Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray scored a massive $230-million contract comes with a unique stipulation. The contract mandates four hours of weekly film study. Is he a 9-year-old that needs to do homework before he gets Xbox time? Green Bay Packers NFL MVP quarterback Aaron Rodgers took his former number one wide receiver Davante Adams' comments to heart. After Adams mentioned going from one Hall of Famer to another Hall of Famer, Rodgers compared Adams to his receiver Allen Lazard. The Kansas City tight end Travis Kelce (who we hate saying his name) restructured his contract. How does one AFC West tight end contract affect Darren Waller and his contract issues? Ohio State former number one pick and former Las Vegas Raider Damon Arnette is in trouble AGAIN. Arnette was nabbed by cops TWICE between late Monday night and Tuesday morning in Miami Beach, Florida. The second time Arnette was picked up, police found cocaine in his car. Starting guard Denzelle Good retired this week shortly after the Raiders other starting guard Richie Incognito retired. The Las Vegas Raiders already struggling offensive line takes another hit. What does this mean for the raiders offensive line this season? Gregg Rosenthal made his picks for which players will make the biggest leap in 2022. Rosenthal liked Rock Ya Sin and Trayvon Mullen. Rory says Trevon Moehrig. Soto says Divine Diablo. In What Up, Windbags, the guys answer questions on Derek Carr sticking to the script and how Carr can get into the NFL Hall of Fame.

Raiders Training Camp 2022, Denzel Perryman Presser, Dallin Leavitt Raiders Release
Thursday Jul 21, 2022
Thursday Jul 21, 2022
Soto and Rory run the show with RJ working in London, England.
The Las Vegas Raiders start training camp this week. All rookies and veterans report to Raiders training camp which is an early start. With a new coaching staff, new veteran additions and injury questions all over, the Windbags ask what the expectations are for the Raiders 2022 training camp.
A lot of big names spoke at the Las Vegas Raiders press Conference including Hunter Renfrow, Maxx Crosby, Denzel Perryman and John Simpson.
John Simpson spoke about the offensive line improving over the course of the Raiders 2021 season.
NFL Pro Bowl linebacker Denzel Perryman spoke to the media as well. Perryman spoke on the importance of personal responsibility, new scheme and shut down any contract distraction talk.
NFL Pro Bowl edge rusher Maxx Crosby was on the mic. The Las Vegas fan favorite talked about managing his emotions and not getting too high or too low. Crosby also spoke on how many veteran leaders they have on the team like Chandler Jones, Davante Adams and second year player Nate Hobbs.
NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Hunter Renfrow talked about his commitment to the coaching staff, his teammates and himself. Renfrow also discussed Demarcus Robinson and who could evolve into the X role. And was Renfrow trying to warn the rest of the league?
The Las Vegas Raiders released Dallin Leavitt making the safety room even smaller. Plus they discussed guys on the physically unable to play list including Johnathan Hankins, Bilal Nichols and Trayvon Mullen.
With the injuries along the defensive line, does it make it more likely that NFL free agent Ndamukong Suh could sign with the Raiders? The Windbags discuss the cap and when the Raiders may sign Suh.
Draft Kings released the over/under win totals for the AFC West. Denver Broncos at 10 (under), Kansas City Chiefs 10.5 (over), Las Vegas 8.5 (over) and the Los Angeles Chargers 10 (over). Do you like these numbers and did the Raiders get shafted at 8.5 total wins in a 17-game NFL season.
In What Up, Windbags, the guys answer questions about JaMarcus Russell, expectations for the season and Soto’s Derek Carr quarterback list.
