Worst Fan Base in the NFL, ESPN Trashes the Raiders’ Roster, Defensive Expectations
Wednesday Jun 29, 2022
Wednesday Jun 29, 2022
On episode 108 of The Autumn Windbags, we ask who has the worst fanbase in the NFL. RJ and Soto make strong cases for the Los Angeles Chargers and go easy on the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs. Raiders' first round pick Alex Leatherwood is getting a lot of love from the media and fans recently. What is the basis for all this blind optimism? The Raiders defense has been historically bad for well over 15 years. ESPN ranked them the worst defense of the decade (2010-2020). The defense has never been better than 20th in points per game since Derek Carr took over as starting quarterback in 2014. The Windbags discuss how the defense may not drastically change statistically but will change fundamentally. The Raiders are the most penalized team in the Super Bowl era by a WIDE margin. If there is anything that keeps new head Josh McDaniels up at night, it has to be the unforced errors committed by the Raiders. How can McDaniels and company turn around the terrible history of penalties set by the Raiders? ESPN ranked the roster of all 32 NFL teams and dropped the Raiders all the way down to 21st. Because the roster is top heavy in specific positions and bad at others, the average drops. The Windbags discuss how accurate the ranking is, how Josh McDaniels can scheme around the weaknesses and why the raiders are better than the sum of their parts (unlike the Chargers). On What Up, Windbags you guys asked about Darren Waller's squandered season under Jon Gruden, Josh McDaniels' team he assembled for success and the running game. 0:00 Intro 1:57 Worst Fan Base in the NFL 9:44 Why Alex Leatherwood Gets So Much Love 19:40 Turning Around Raiders' Historically Bad Defense 32:04 PENALTIES PENALTIES PENALTIES 39:50 ESPN Dumps on Raiders' Roster 49:51 What Up, Windbags?

Ndamukong Suh the Raider, Was Darren Waller Held Back?, Warren Sapp Defends Jon Gruden
Wednesday Jun 22, 2022
Wednesday Jun 22, 2022
The Windbags respond to Maxx Crosby's tweet pronouncing The Sopranos the greatest TV show of all-time.
Ndamukong Suh continues to flirt with potentially coming to the Raiders. Soto thinks there is over 50% chance he comes to Las Vegas, RJ is much less sure. They discuss how well he'd fit in with the Raiders, is Suh purely about money, what his tenure with the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers tell us or is he just upping his demand?
Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller appeared on @The Rich Eisen Show and discussed what head coach Josh McDaniels has planned for him. Waller said Gruden gave him a strong foundation that McDaniels will build on. Josh McDaniels is better at adapting his game plan and offensive strategy to his players than Jon Gruden so did Gruden not get the most out of Waller's talent?
Former Super Bowl champ and Raider Warren Sapp spoke with @Vlad TV Show about Jon Gruden, his former head coach with Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Sapp defended Gruden saying if he was racist, Sapp would know. The Windbags get into why Sapp has a refreshing take because he is independent but knows all parties involved.
Washington Commanders owner Daniel Snyder was subpoenaed by the government for the all the troubles with his franchise after NFL commissioner Roger Goodell already spoke to congress. The Windbags talk about Jon Gruden's role in all of this.
On What Up, Windbags, RJ is lambasted for his terrible player name pronunciations, will the Raiders 2022 offense be better than the Raiders 2016 offense and should the Raiders be worried about the Darren Waller price tag as time goes on.

Darren Waller Extension Laid Out, Khalil Mack Revenge Game, Raiders Best Player
Wednesday Jun 15, 2022
Wednesday Jun 15, 2022
On episode 106 of The Autumn Windbags, the guys discuss CBS' Top 100 Players in the NFL list. Four players from the Las Vegas Raiders made the list: 11: WR Davante Adams, 33: EDGE Maxx Crosby, 55: TE Darren Waller and 58: EDGE Chandler Jones with Derek Carr, Kolton Miller and Hunter Renfrow making honorable mention. So the question of the day is 'Who Is the Best Player on the Raiders?' Former Raiders Pro Bowl edge rusher Khalil Mack will be a Los Angeles Charger this season. He was asked at media day this week about playing his former team week 1. The Windbags look back at his time as a Raider, Mack knowing he'll have 17 away games every season, will Mack be booed by Raider fans and how did the Chargers get him for so cheap in trade? Former Raiders defensive lineman Gerald McCoy spoke to Fox Sports radio host Colin Cowherd. McCoy had a ton of good things to say about Derek Carr and how he feels he's one of the most underrated players in the NFL and why he's optimistic for next season. Gerald McCoy also touched on last season's miracle playoff run despite all the troubles they faced. McCoy fawned over Rich Bisaccia and how well he handled the team during crisis. The Windbags discuss if Bisaccia was a key player in the quality locker room in Las Vegas and if they will miss his presence more than people realize. The Raiders handed out a bunch of huge contracts and extensions this offseason but they have yet to pay Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller. When Waller's extension eventually comes, what will it look like? The Windbags look at other similar tight end contracts, when he should be extended and why Waller is losing leverage in negotiations. On What Up, Windbags the guys answer questions about how optimistic fans should be for the Raiders run game, should Jon Gruden and company be blamed for Bryan Edwards' poor start and how much blame Chargers coach Brandon Staley should get for their failure to make the playoffs last season. 0:00 Intro 1:25 Who Is the Best Player on the Raiders? 11:05 Khalil Mack Revenge Game 21:51 Gerald McCoy on Derek Carr 24:19 Will the Raiders Miss Rich Bisaccia? 30:04 What Darren Waller's Extension Should Look Like 40:20 What Up, Windbags?

RJ is LIVE from Singapore for UFC 275. Standard definition and poor lighting but the Silver and Black is well represented in Southeast Asia. Chris Sims' Top 40 Quarterback Countdown put Derek Carr at number 11 just in front of Kyler Murray and just behind Lamar Jackson. Where do the Windbags rank Derek Carr and how much does personnel matter when ranking NFL QB's? Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp is rich! The contract includes $75 million guaranteed and is worth $110 million over the five years of the deal. Since Kupp is a slot WR and Renfrow is on the verge of getting extended by the Las Vegas raiders, Kupp's contract can give us a look on how Renfrow's contract could look. Also, the Windbags explain why Renfrow should not be the number one wide receiver in Las Vegas' last season. Day two of the Raiders mandatory mini camp is in the books. The Windbags take a closer look at Denzel Perryman's leadership role, who was there, what we learned from the offensive line setup, Tre’von Moehrig's goals and who will return punts. The Denver Broncos have entered a sale agreement with the Walton-Penner family ownership group. The agreement is for $4.65 billion, a record price paid for a North American sports franchise. Deshaun Watson civil cases for sexual advances against massage therapists are getting worse, not better. Does his contract with the Cleveland Browns make him untouchable by the NFL? What Up, Windbags talk John Madden's new cover, how many passes should Derek Carr throw a game and is the offensive line fine? 0:00 Intro (RJ's in Singapore!) 2:56 Where does Derek Carr rank with the best quarterbacks in the NFL? 28:12 What Cooper Cupp's Contract Means for Hunter Renfrow 36:32 Do the Windbags HATE Hunter Renfrow? 41:18 Mini Camp News and Notes 53:56 Someone Finally Adopted the Broncos 58:47 Deshaun Watson Sucks at Getting Massages 1:02:42 What Up, Windbags?

Raiders $25 million Wish List, Chasing Ndamukong Suh, Overflowing Running Back Room
Wednesday Jun 01, 2022
Wednesday Jun 01, 2022
With the contracts of Carl Nassib and Cory Littleton coming off the books, The Raiders have roughly $25 million in cap space. What should the Raiders spend it on? Extend Hunter Renfrow? Offensive tackle? Cornerback? Offensive weapon like Odell Beckham Jr. or Emmanuel Sanders? Ndamukong Suh is still floating in free agency and it is RUMORED that the Raiders are the leading franchise to pick him up now that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cleveland Browns are reportedly out of the running. Suh seems to fit nicely with the Raiders. The Raiders have ten running backs currently on the roster. The running back room is the perfect example of how Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler build a roster. Cheap, diverse talent that is constantly building the next generation. Multiple positive reports came out of Colin Kaepernick's workout with the Raiders. The Windbags provide a little context on what kind of reporting comes out of workouts. 0:00 Intro 3:04 What Should the Raiders Spend Their $25 million on? 14:51 Does Ndamukong Suh fit with the Raiders? 23:17 Making Sense of the Running Backs Room 35:36 Context on Colin Kaepernick Reports 45:40 What Up, Windbags?

With games in Nashville, New Orleans, two in Los Angeles and New Year's at home, there are a lot of choices. With Bryan Edwards getting traded to the Atlanta Falcons, the Windbags discuss why the trade was made, why the trade was made now and what it tells us about Josh McDaniels new offense in Las Vegas.
