Wednesday Nov 09, 2022
Its episode 135 of the Autumn Windbags. Away game for RJ again. This time in New York City. Question of the day: What is your go-to drink after a Raiders loss? If you are a long time Las Vegas Raiders fan, we know you've had to drink away your sorrows a time or two. Soto says mezcal, RJ says whiskey. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is back on the main show, by popular demand. The Good: Derek Carr had an incredible half in the Raiders-Jaguars game. Devante Adams had a monster first half with two touchdowns. The Raiders defense had a pair of standout linebackers: Blake Martinez and Denzel Perryman had a ton of tackles against the Jacksonville Jaguars offense. The Bad: The Las Vegas Raiders were terrible on 3rd down, the Raiders offensive AND the Raiders defensive. Derek Carr had no time to throw with how bad the offensive line performed. The Ugly: As good as Derek Carr was in the first half, he was that ugly in the second half against the Jacksonville Jaguars defense. Davante Adams was held to only one catch int he second half. Maxx Crosby has seen his production plummet for the Raiders defense. In Raiders news, former first round draft pick Johnathan Abram was cut this week. The Green Bay Packers picked him up off wavers. The Raiders news today is that this is another sign that Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham may not be as flexible with his scheme as we thought he would be. With Johnathan Abram cut, he completes the clean sweep of Raiders first round NFL picks falling flat. Alex Leatherwood cut, Henry Ruggs cut, Damon Arnette cut, Clelin Ferrell option declined, Josh Jacobs option declined, Johnathan Abram cut. Yet another example of how back the Jon Gruden and Mike Mayock squad was in the draft. Josh McDaniels is 2-6 as the Las Vegas Raiders head coach. Josh McDaniels was also 11-17 as the head coach of the Denver Broncos. The Big LV Raiders news is that NFL Pro Bowl wide receiver Davante Adams called out Josh McDaniels on the play calling in the Jaguars-Raiders game. Is this a sign that Josh McDaniels is losing this locker room? Soto also says that Josh McDaniels should relinquish play calling. Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall played under Josh McDaniels during his stint with the Broncos. Brandon Marshall went off saying Josh McDaniels is not a leader of men. The Raiders defense ranks last in sacks, takeaways and passer rating allowed and second to last points per drive allowed. The big Raiders news is the Raiders defense also allowed 15 of 15 in goal to go in the red zone. The defensive woes are exacerbated by the fact the Raiders defense has played poor offenses like the Houston Texans, New Orleans Saints and Denver Broncos. In What Up, Windbags, the guys discuss player effort, how much Mark Davis is to blame and a new drinking game for the show!

This Raiders vs Jaguars match-up pits a struggling Trevor Lawrence against a below average Raiders defense. Dave Ziegler Makes No Moves, How Long Will Derek Carr and Josh McDaniels Be Raiders?
Wednesday Nov 02, 2022
Wednesday Nov 02, 2022
Episode 133 of the Autumn Windbags is HERE! How is it no one has brought up RJ's thick, robust beard yet? Question of the day, what is the best fast food burger? Trying to keep things fun after the shellacking the New Orléans Saints gave the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. RJ says an In-N-Out burger. Soto says McDonald's Big Mac. The NFL Trade Deadline came and went November 1st and the ONLY move the Raiders made was trade away Johnathan Hankins to the Dallas Cowboys. Dave Ziegler Raiders general manager is still sticking to their long term game plan. Dave Ziegler and the Raiders are still trying to clean up some the money issues left by former Raiders coach Jon Gruden. But Dave Ziegler has made some big, questionable himself: Derek Carr's extension, signing Chandler Jones, extending Darren Waller and signing Hunter Renfrow to a big contract. Derek Carr's contract is set up so the Raiders are stuck with him for three guaranteed years if he's on the roster next season. Will Josh McDaniels and Dave Ziegler hitch their wagon to Derek Carr? In Raiders news, after the trade deadline came and went, Dave Ziegler spoke to the media. Was Ziegler playing damage control or was he onto something. With the Raiders now 2-7, Mark Davis has already had to meet with Josh McDaniels and issue a statement through the media about his head coach. Would Mark Davis fire Josh McDaniels after just one season? On what up, windbags the guys discuss how they can argue no matter what, do players LIKE Josh McDaniels and a dive into the Raiders media.

Las Vegas Raiders vs New Orleans Saints Post Game
Monday Oct 31, 2022
Monday Oct 31, 2022
Josh McDaniels, Derek Carr and the Las Vegas Raiders travel to New Orleans to take on former Raiders coach Dennis Allen and the Saints. The Raiders are 2-4 and 3rd in the AFC West while the Saints sit at 2-5 in the wide open NFC South. The Raiders played without NFL Pro Bowl tight end Darren Waller out with a hamstring injury. Derek Carr played so poorly they pulled the starting quarterback for backup Jarett Stidham in garbage time. Saints tight end / quarterback Taysom Hill had a good day. The Raiders momentum came to a screeching halt when Josh McDaniels called a fake punt in the first quarter. Saints running back Alvin Kamara scored three touchdowns. Raiders fans can not be pleased with their team's performance. Raiders lose 0-24.

The Darren Waller Problem, Raiders Trade Rumors, Raiders vs Saints Predictions
Wednesday Oct 26, 2022
Wednesday Oct 26, 2022
The Autumn Windbags are BACK for episode 131 with RJ finally home from Abu Dhabi. Question of the day asks, how many games will the Raiders win on the upcoming five game stretch? The Raiders are at New Orleans Saints, at Jacksonville Jaguars, vs Indianapolis Colts, at Denver broncos and at Seattle Seahawks. In random Raiders news, we have a Raiders beef we didn't know we needed. The Athletics' Tashan Reed and Iggy Azalea had a back and forth on Twitter about her performance at the Raiders halftime show. Are fans turned off by media complaining at games? Plus, Iggy Azelea delivered a great line. After the 38-20 drubbing the Raiders put on the Houston Texans, the Raiders are currently third in points per game behind only the Kansas City Chiefs and Buffalo Bills. That's a Super Bowl offense. Its a balanced offense as well with Derek Carr, Davante Adams, Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller leading a passing attack ranking 12th and Josh Jacobs leading a rushing attack ranked 11th. Who should get credit for the success and is this just smoke and mirrors or who the Raiders really are? Derek Carr is not a turnover machine anymore. Daniel Carlson is crushing field goals. In Raiders trade rumors, Sports Illustrated reports that the Raiders are discussing trading for Cleveland Browns right tackle Jack Conklin before the NFL trade deadline. The NFL Pro Bowler fits a need for the Raiders. Conklin went on injured reserve twice last season and is in year three of a three year, $42 million deal. Raiders vs Saints Preview. The Raiders and Saints are both 2-4 heading into NFL week 8. Saints coach Dennis Allen was the coach who drafted Derek Carr! The Saints vs Raiders match-up will come down to our linebackers being able to corral Alvin Kamara. The New Orleans Saints only really have one receiving threat and that's Chris Olave. Andy Dalton is not a great NFL quarterback but he is good enough to hurt the Raiders defensive backs. The New Orleans are also in big injury trouble with Marshon Latimore, Bradley Roby, Jarvis Landry and Michael Thomas all not likely to play. Alvin Kamara also gave the Raiders a motivational quote. In What Up, Windbags, is Josh Jacobs the key to a Super Bowl, has Josh McDaniels figured out his play calling and is Darren Waller tradeable?

Fixing the Raiders Defense, Las Vegas Raiders Trade Rumors, Raiders vs Texans Preview
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
Wednesday Oct 19, 2022
The Autumn Windbags return for episode 129 live in Abu Dhabi with RJ working in the UAE for UFC 280. RJ updates Raiders owner and Al Davis son Mark Davis and his exchange with RJ's wife in Las Vegas. The question of the day: What is your prediction for Houston Texans vs Las Vegas Raiders this Sunday? The Raiders are 7-point favorites at home against the lowly Texans. in Raiders news, there are multiple rumors of Raiders players that could be traded. The Raiders trade rumors come from ESPN and point to a pair of 2019 first rounders Clelin Ferrell and Johnathan Abram. The Windbags look at what the Raiders could get for those guys and also if Josh Jacobs should be shopped since his value is so high. The Raiders defense with head coach Josh McDaniels and defense coordinator Patrick Graham took over a Gus Bradley defense that needed a makeover. The four things the Windbags thought they would focus on were: points per game, sacks, takeaways and red zone defense. They looked at the five teams the Las Vegas Raiders have played this year and compared the teams averages vs how they played the Raiders. The Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs all beat their averages against the Raiders. How much is this due to the personnel and how much is on Patrick Graham? The Las Vegas Raiders and the Houston Texans are both 1-4 and coming off a bye week. In this Raiders vs Texans preview, the Windbags look at Darren Waller on the injury report and how Davante Adams is available. Anthony Averett is off the IR while Nate Hobbs went on it. The game plan should be pretty simple: run Josh Jacobs against the porous Houston Texans defense. Derek Stingley vs Davante Adams is a matchup to keep your eye on. In What Up, Windbags, the guys discuss why NOW is the time to talk about what to do with Josh Jacobs, Derek Carr the think man's quarterback and Davante Adams and the rest of the Raiders squad controlling their emotions.

On episode 128 of the Autumn Windbags, RJ and Soto have calmed down after falling apart against the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night football. Now that NFL week 5 is in the books, what grade do we give Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr? Both RJ and Soto give him a solid B so far. Carr no longer turns over the ball and its been Darren Waller and Davante Adams letting Carr down instead of the other way around. We don't know if Derek Carr has figured it out, if Josh McDaniels fixed him or if he's just lucky. In Raiders news, Davante Adams of the Raiders shoves a camera man. Kansas City police is bringing on a criminal charge of assault after the Chiefs Raiders game. The cameraman has secured the services of a law firm who will inevitably sue Davante Adams. Adams pushing the cameraman opens up the discussion on suing celebrities. Aaron Rodgers appeared on the @The Pat McAfee Show this week as he always does. Obviously, the NFL MVP played at the Green Bay Packers with current Raider Davante Adams. Rodgers said "when we come up short we are going to be held accountable and not going to flip out." Was Rodgers taking a passive aggressive dig at his former teammate, was he playing around with a friend or neither? The Raiders shove was on everyone's mind. NFL.com does their power rankings after every week. After NFL week 5, they have the Raiders at 14th despite the Raiders 1-4 record. The Windbags have been so pissed with the terrible start to the season. But maybe the NFL writers see the big picture and how close games were against the Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titan and Kansas City Chiefs and how loaded the roster is with Davante Adams, Derek Carr, Hunter Renfrow, Maxx Crosby and others. In Breaking Raiders news, as the Windbags were recording the show, RJ's wife texted him and sent a picture of her having dinner with Raiders owner Mark Davis. The Las Vegas Raiders have a problem with Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs. The Raiders did not pick up Jacobs fifth year option so this is the last season as a Raider. Do the Raiders pay him, let him walk after the season or trade him when he has value? In What Up, Windbags, the guys answer questions about trading Darren Waller for Josh Jacobs cap money, the easy part of the schedule and guarding Travis Kelce with Cle Ferrell. 0:00 Intro

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs took on Josh McDaniels and the Las Vegas Raiders in the latest version of the Chiefs Raiders rivalry. This NFL week 5 matchup had it all: two point attempts, penalties, controversy, comebacks and everything else you'd want in an NFL Monday Night Football game. In the end, the primetime matchup went the way of the Chiefs as they held on to defeat the Raiders 29-30.
